Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Association of Production Safety officially announced the winners of the fifth “Emergency Management and Safety Science & Technology Progress Award”. The project “Research and Application of Fire Protection Technology in Hazard Control of Oil Storage Tank Farms”, in which Polyrocks Chemical participated and successfully applied at Sinopec Sales Co., Ltd. Guangdong Petroleum Branch, was awarded the first prize. This honor marks a solid and key step forward for Polyrocks Chemical in the field of fire safety for emergency shutdown devices in petrochemical processes and storage & transportation systems.

The project focused on the safe operation challenge of emergency shutdown devices under fire exposure during petrochemical processes and in storage & transportation systems. Polyrocks Chemical undertook the material preparation and installation of fire protection enclosures for emergency shutdown devices, relying on its independently developed fireproof coating product — the only one in China that has obtained classification society certification. This solution successfully addressed the pain points of existing fire protection enclosures, such as low fire resistance efficiency, short service life, and inconvenient operation.

The fireproof coating product features excellent weatherability, aging resistance, and resistance to wind and rain, as well as high strength and resistance to blast impact. Compared to traditional flexible materials, its thickness can be reduced by approximately 60%. The technical achievements of the project have already been applied in many oil depots, including Huangpu and Xiaohu Island, providing solid protection for the production safety of regional storage and transportation systems, truly acting as a “safety guard”.
This award fully reflects the industry’s high recognition of the application value of Polyrocks Chemical’s fire protection products in petrochemical engineering safety.
